Hello Sailors...

Capt'n Ricko of the S/V Second Wind here...

I've been sailing the ocean blue since I was 10, starting with 8 foot Sabots in Newport Beach in the mid to late 60's, watching John Wayne coming up the harbor on the Wild Goose...  Those were the good 'ole days!

Now I skipper the S/V Second Wind around the Channel Islands of Southern California...  Catalina, Santa Barbara Island, and my favorite... Santa Cruz Island.

I have been in the process of refitting this fine Cal 35 MkII for the last few years - for our future voyage south (Oct/Nov 2015), to Mexico, Central America, , through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean, and then back through to our ultimate destination: the South Pacific!

I created this site for friends, family, & followers to keep up with us - as we travel the World!  And, also for fellow cruisers - who may be interested in projects & improvements we have done on the S/V Second Wind (See our "Refit" page)

So Fair Winds and Following Seas to you, Sailors (and arm-chair Sailors & Landlubbers!)... I hope to see you out on the ocean blue!

Capt'n Ricko

SEA FEVER

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
